If the latest Black Mirror offering, Bandersnatch, felt like too much of a commitment, then consider the kind of attention span required for The Very Slow Movie Player. It's a sleek new device that turns cinema into decorative art (think Every Frame a Painting).

The e-paper display shows a movie – but rather than the normal 24 frames per second speed, the movie plays at a leisurely 24 frames per hour. Rather than a cinematic experience that requires a darkened room and a sub-Reddit open to keep up with shifting plots, The Very Slow Movie Player is a piece of art that is there to be appreciated.

The project is a celebration of slowness that goes against fast-paced and labyrinthine plotted trends of “peak TV.” Creator Bryan Boyer asked, “Can a film be consumed at the speed of reading a book? Yes, just as a car city can be enjoyed on foot. Slowing things down to an extreme measure creates room for appreciation of the object.”
