Vans is one of the few brands that invests in its icons' legacy. While others spoil us with flashy new sneakers and sneaker-adjacent silhouettes, Vans proves there’s power in the smallest tweaks to the biggest models that started it all.

Speaking of which, the Skate Era just got a refresh.

Fifty years ago, the Era hit the streets as Vans' first shoe designed for skateboarding. Simple, innovative, and very much ahead of its time.

Half a century later, Vans is still squeezing the most out of the silhouette, this time dropping the Skate Era WaffleCup in a moody black and brown colorway that somehow makes the shoe feel brand new all over again.

The suede upper wears the new color combo like it was made for it, because honestly, it was. The WaffleCup outsole keeps things locked in with cupsole support and vulcanized boardfeel,

PopCush footbeds absorb whatever the skatepark throws at you, and DuraCap rubber makes sure griptape doesn't eat through the shoe before you've even broken it in. This is, well and truly, an upgraded Skate Era.

Old enough to have started the whole thing. Still good enough to keep it goin’. The Skate Era WaffleCup in black and brown is available on Vans’ website now for $75.
