Netflix is in the process of turning Resident Evil into a TV series, according to a report by Deadline.

The show is still in the early stages of development, so few details about the plot have emerged, but it's expected to continue the story set out in the six Resident Evil movies and, according to the report, "explore the dark inner workings of the Umbrella Corporation and the new world order caused by the outbreak of the T-virus."

Of course, the Resident Evil films and mooted TV series are originally based on Capcom's survival horror video game franchise, which has spawned countless sequels including the recently released Resident Evil 2.

Constantin Film, the German production studio behind the original movies, is working with Netflix on the TV adaptation. However, in 2017 it was also reported that Constantin Film was working on a six-movie reboot of the Resident Evil franchise, so it's unclear whether the Netflix TV version will affect the previous deal.
