In 1982, Bruce Kilgore changed the face of sneakers forever by designing the Nike Air Force 1. Formatted for basketball with a supportive sole unit, it was the first time that Nike Air technology was brought to the hardwood.

What Kilgore likely hoped, but could not have possibly foreseen, was that the Air Force 1 would go on to evolve way beyond the basketball court, becoming one of the most popular and most iconic lifestyle shoes ever made. Further than lifestyle, the Nike Air Force 1 Low Vibram Pack has evolved for the trail.

It turns out that when you take away the OG leather uppers and replace them with lightweight ripstop nylon, then proceed to rebuild the iconic chunky sole unit with the help of Vibram (AKA. the final word in technical shoe foundations) the Nike Air Force 1 starts looking ready to eat trails for breakfast.

Luckily, though, the new technical additions don’t subtract from the silhouette’s original prowess. At its core, this is a super versatile, understated silhouette which is perhaps why it works so well across disparate categories.

This isn’t the first time that Vibram has offered a touch of technicality to the Air Force 1, but the previous collaboration saw little change in the upper, sticking to black and white leather for a more OG flavor.

The Nike Air Force 1 Low Vibram Pack has landed in three new colorways: Pencil Point, Summit White, and Silt Red.

With light uppers and an outsole built for hiking, the Nike Air Force 1 Low Vibram Pack is ideal for any active summer plans.
