How To Make New Balance’s Dad Shoe Better? Turn It Into a Trail Sandal
How to improve New Balance's 9060 sneaker? Make it a trail-minded summer sandal. And that's exactly what the Boston brand did.
New Balance's chunky dad sneaker recently became the 9060 Summer (formerly known as the 9060 Mule). It's essentially the signature 9060 sneaker, turned into a summer sandal with a back strap.
The back strap is actually removable, allowing the 9060 Summer to be worn as a slip-on sneaker. It also features quick-lacing, which gives the hybrid model an outdoorsy edge.
So, it's basically a sandal-mule with the aura of a trail sneaker and the comfort of the 9060 dad shoe. Forget a two-fer. The 9060 Summer is a do-it-all-fer.
New Balance's 9060 sneaker was released in 2022 by way of a Joe Freshgoods collaboration. It's definitely a standout in the New Balance collection, thanks to its bulbous-soled look.
It borrows its general steez from classic 990 models and essentially blows it up into a New Balance dad shoe design like no other.
We've seen the 9060 get "washed" and even deliciously dressed in hairy suede. But a sandal-mule? That's next-level.
New Balance has designed four colorways for the 9060 Summer's debut, with a NB Grey option leading the way. The grey pair is already available at several Japanese retailers, including Mita Sneakers, which sells them for around $125.
It's still unknown if the 9060 Summer will see a wider release. However, this first set looks to be exclusive to Japan.
