Louis Vuitton has just revealed its latest sneaker, marking a new and important step in the luxury house's sustainability journey. Dubbed the Charlie Sneaker, the silhouette is LV's most eco-responsible yet, featuring 90% recycled and bio-sourced materials.

Featuring a white upper in smooth recycled polyester and Biopolioli, a corn-based plastic, the shoe also sports a sole made upt of 94% recycled rubber that allows for shock absorption whilst still keeping LV's luxury design cues in mind. Additionally, the laces are also recycled, and the tongue branding and the back of the shoe are made with ECONYL®, all derived from nylon waste.

Lastly, the insole and lining are made from recycled polyurethane and recycled polyester, and the Charlie also arrives with a redesigned version of the house's signature packaging. Following the same responsible approach, the shoe box is crafted from 100% recycled cardboard that can turn into a transportable bag. The box makes it possible to save around 70% of materials, being available in only two sizes.

The move to become more responsible and eco-friendly has been an ongoing conversation within the fashion world for years, but hasn't become as widespread in the luxury sector. Louis Vuitton's Charlie sneaker could be the first of many more innovative products to pave the way for more development and accountability for fashion brands across the world.

The sneaker is unisex and will be available in both low and high-top styles (retailing at $1,080 and $1,130 respectively) in a size run from US 3 to 13.
