Vans' Half Cab sneaker is shaping up to be one of the skatehouse's most culturally in-tune sneakers. See, the Vans Premium Half Cab 33 "TOKYO" sneaker is a shredable homage to Tokyo's multifaceted culture.

Created in collaboration with Vans’ Japanese creative hub, Tokyo Design Collective, this Half Cab 33 sneaker features swaths of contrasting materials at the upper, including leather, suede, and PVC.

This mix of materials reflects the ways different aspects of Tokyo's cultures intersect through fashion, art, and music. All of these different parts come together to create something that initially appears kludgey but is actually quite seamless.

Despite rocking quite the blend of materials, the colorway is decidedly simple with an all-black upper and a brown leather heel, which gives the sneaker a surprisingly chic disposition.

Earlier this year, Vans collabed with Nigerian streetwear brand, Motherlan, to create a wild and patterned ode to Lagos using the Half Cab as the canvas.

Elsewhere, Vans has also employed the Half Cab as the backdrop for a paisley-printed tribute to the sneaker's West Coast roots, as the shoe is named after California skate star Steve Caballero.

While the Half Cab is far from the only great throwback Vans silhouette, it is certainly a top contender for most worldly. That is to say, put the Half Cab anywhere in the world and it's guaranteed to shred.
