Most NBA stars can trace their greatness back to a varsity court; one that never loses its importance. We’ve seen Jordan’s reverence of his Alma Mater in a string of iconic ‘University Blue’ colorways, for example.

For Devin Booker, Kentucky holds a special place in his heart. And while Book’s homages to his old team also take a light-blue hue, they’re a little more out-there than Jordan’s. Enter, the Nike Book 2 ‘Must Be The Denim’.

That’s right. Balling in denim basketball shoes is a thing. The Nike Book 2 ‘Must Be The Denim’ nods to Kentucky’s iconic denim uniforms which hit the court in the mid-90s.

And it’s not the first time that Book has used denim in his signature line. In the Nike Book 1 ‘Wildcats’ that also celebrated his Alma Mater, Devin Booker looked to faded denim accents for a touch of personality.

For this latest drop, however, denim is not limited to accents. The entire upper of the mid-top silhouette is delivered in indigo denim.

We originally caught sight of these head-turning kicks when the Kentucky team wore them as player exclusives. Luckily, it seems that they’ll be graduating to a full release later this month.

Of course, the treated uppers still have a lot of give in them. We’re not expecting any heavyweight raw denim here, thankfully.
