It’s no secret that adidas makes great running shoes. The German sportswear giant has been creating record-holding runners since the ‘50s, but the current roster of adidas running shoes is especially impressive.

This isn’t because of their performance per se. Don’t get me wrong, the newest adidas sneakers still boast excellent tech, aiding in the breaking of several world records, but what’s really stood out is how plainly stylish adidas’ top-of-the-line sports shoes are.

The Adizero line is at the forefront of adidas’ formidable running shoe range. The line was introduced in 2008 by Ethiopian long-distance runner Haile Gebrselassie breaking the marathon world record in the first pair of adizero shoes. That golden yellow OG model is now back in collaboration with Wales Bonner, the designer behind adidas’ most hyped sneakers in recent years.

But simultaneously, new-school Adizero shoes are racking up equally high-profile collaborations.

Sneaker retail behemoth Kith provided an already stripped-back Adizero Boston model with a clean white colorway punctuated by subtle silver detailing. Louis Vuitton creative director Pharrell Williams went one step further through a $1,000 Adizero “concept” shoe based on “adidas’ most innovative running model.” While Pharrell broke records for the most expensive adidas running shoe, Y-3 was breaking records on the track as Yohji Yamamoto’s adidas line designed shoes worn during Noah Lyles’ first Olympic gold medal win.

Song For The Mute, the small Australian label behind bangers like collapsible Sambas and cleverly pre-scuffed Taekwondo shoes, also joined the action by updating the Adizero PR. This sleek and surprisingly slim runner was already plenty steazy, but then Song For The Mute took it up a gear through clean colorways and metal studs.

And Song For The Mute clearly can’t get enough of adidas’ running gear (join the team!) as it recently announced a new line fittingly titled RUN 01.

This collection centers around the Supernova Rise 3, an all-new adidas road-running shoe that would’ve flown under the radar (outside of runners with their finger on the pulse) had Song For The Mute not decked it out in two objectively pretty, if neutral, colorways. One shoe is earthy brown with navy blue and off-white detailing, while the other mixes beige shades with black overlays. This isn’t revolutionary stuff, but it's undeniably clean and its wearability all but disguises the sportiness of the shoe.

It is also notably not from the Adizero family. That doesn’t mean the Adizero hot streak is slowing down, but it does mean adidas’ range of fashionable runners is expanding.
