Double Tap to Zoom

When TAG Heuer announced they were entering the eyewear game last year, everyone was saying the same thing: it’s about time. The Swiss luxury house has long been renowned for its sophisticated, cutting-edge watches. Why wouldn’t they steer their expertise into a new lane? The unveiling of the latest TAG Heuer Eyewear lines—the “Jack Heuer,” the Mini Vingt-Sept, and the Shield Pro—wasn’t a starter pistol, but a checkered flag signaling the end of the race: the victor had arrived. After all, TAG Heuer’s philosophy is ‘Designed to Win.’

Announcing that longtime friend of the house, Patrick Dempsey, would be the face of TAG Heuer Eyewear simply clinched their spot on the podium. The silver-screen icon pulls double duty himself, filling the time between film shoots and red carpets with professional racing gigs. His stints in endurance racing—including placing second in his category at Le Mans in 2015—have proven him to be no mere hobbyist. Whatever he does, he does all the way.

Who better to represent TAG’s new chapter than the man that’s a kindred spirit to the Maison’s visionary former CEO, Jack Heuer? The great-grandson of the company’s founder, Jack is the one who presciently pioneered the watchmaker’s Formula 1 partnerships back in the 1970s. Dempsey recreates a memorable Heuer shot in the campaign for the eyewear lineup, posing with a chronograph while peering nonchalantly out of vintage-style specs. The portrait nods to the brand’s legacy of top-level precision and refined style that began with its mastery of the chronograph, which Jack distributed to Formula 1 drivers to ensure accurate, split-second timing.

Highsnobiety, Highsnobiety

Everything that makes a TAG Heuer timepiece so coveted is present within the TAG Heuer Eyewear collection. It starts with the “Jack Heuer” line of retro-made-modern specs, which boast ultra-light Japanese titanium pilot frames and chromafade lenses for unmatched comfort and clarity. Their sporty, race-ready look is the real victory lap—they’re easy to envision wearing trackside or behind the wheel.

Also off to the races is the Mini Vingt-Sept eyewear family, an ode to the art of motorsport engineering that’s brimming with fine details. Case in point: The glasses’ bio-nylon temples mimic the sound of sports car doors when opened and closed. Rimless frames and the enhanced 27° hinge from the OG Vingt-Sept line further echo the harmonic precision demanded of first-class automotives.

Rounding out TAG Heuer Eyewear’s offerings is the athlete-endorsed Shield Pro line. With this iteration, Grand Prixs give way to bike trails and adventure-ready terrain. The avant-garde shades are crafted for cycling, running, and other high-intensity sports. An elastic rubber frame and interchangeable lenses facilitate comfort and versatile styling, all while delivering the performance needed to live in the fast lane.

As eye-catching as they are irresistible, TAG Heuer Eyewear lets its superior quality do the talking. Going pedal to the metal in terms of tech, style, and comfort is second nature for the luxury Maison, whose roots with racing history continue to show up in trailblazing ways.

Dempsey isn’t just along the ride, but firmly in the driver’s seat, offering creative input grounded in his years of cross-disciplinary experience. He’s a unique kind of triple-threat: a classic movie star, a noted racer, and one of TAG’s leading men. On screen or on the sidelines at the Monaco Grand Prix, he silently commands attention. It’s another parallel between the veteran actor and the new TAG Heuer division. Neither needs to be loud about their resume. If you know, you know.
