Legendary Spanish designer Paco Rabanne has passed away at the age of 88 at his home in Portsall, France, according to reports.

Confirmed by Puig, the parent company of his brands, a statement read that Rabanne had "marked generations with his radical vision of fashion and his legacy will live on."

A statement has also been shared via the official House of Paco Rabanne Instagram account, which confirmed his passing, and described him as "among the most seminal fashion figures of the 20th century, his legacy will remain a constant source of inspiration."

Rabanne, the designer, first took the industry by storm in the 1960s and garnering the nickname “enfant terrible” even before it was bestowed to newcomers like Jean Paul Gaultier and Vivienne Westwood, who also recently passed away.

Rabanne began his journey in the world of fashion by creating jewelry for the likes of Givenchy and Dior, before launching his own eponymous fashion house in 1966.

Two years later Rabanne signed with fashion and fragrance industry giants Puig, a move that propelled him into the perfume industry, a sector he'd soon become synonymous with.

Since announcing his retirement in 1999, Rabanne has kept a relatively low profile, living out his days in Portsall, north-western France, where he passed on February 3, 2023.

His eponymous brand, however, has only swelled in size: under creative director Julien Dossena, Paco Rabanne has remained a red carpet favorite for famous women like Beyoncé, Elle Fanning, and Blackpink's Lisa and Rosé.
