Nike has long been the home of footwear customization. Way back in 1999, the Swoosh launched NikeID which broke new ground in allowing sneakerheads to take control of their favorite designs, playing with fabrics, color palettes, and text to make unique pairs. 27 years on, and the Nike By You service has grown, offering more possibilities than ever, so whether you've got a quick new colorway or a total overhaul on the mind, you can probably do it.

What's perhaps most exciting about Nike By You is that everyone can try their hand at sneaker design. We've all looked at a colorway before and thought: "It's good, but I'd have gone for a black midsole." With Nike By You, you can make that a reality, no matter what your profession. Even pro footballers use it...

No, really. Take Nico Williams and Alejandro Balde, for example, who've found their way around the system to give us two fire new colorways on the Air Max Plus and Air Max 95 respectively, each pair a symbol of their lives and careers so far.

Barcelona left-back, Alejandro Balde is a hometown hero. Born in 2003 in Barcelona, Balde's fluid style was shaped by the streets of his neighborhood Sant Martí and it shines through in his take on the Nike Air Max 95. At once restrained yet still featuring hits of bold color, the Nike By You colorway reflects his path and personal style.

Black leather layers of the upper represent grounded discipline which contrasts impactfully with bright orange accents that represent ambition. Finished with an embroidered number 3 to the heel tab—a nod to the moment he joined the Barcelona first team—the shoe holds deep personal meaning.

Nico Williams follows Alejandro Balde in that his Nike Air Max Plus embodies his journey. The Pamplona-born winger now plays for Bilbao which sets the otne for his Nike By You colorway. Dressed in black and red, it echoes Bilbao's kit, but the beauty of this pair lies in the smallest of details.

NW80 printed on the Air Max window to the heel of the left shoe nods to the number of his childhood home while the same spot on the right shoe is decorated with 0428, the date of Williams' Bilbao debut back in 2021.

Both Balde and Williams prove that Nike By You is about more than designing a shoe; it's about creating a memento that you can wear. Whether you fancy yourself as the new Tinker Hatfield or want to commemorate something meaningful, hit Nike By You and get inspired.
