Double Tap to Zoom

As Nike and Devin Booker prepare for the Book 2's debut, the pairing is closing out the Book 1 chapter with a bang. Really, it's more like a "what the."

That's right. Nike's next (and final?) Book 1 gets the "What The" treatment, mashing together the best Book 1s from the two-year run.

Honestly, it looks like they tried to fit all the previous colorways onto the shoe, even the player-exclusives. The results are a crazy patchwork Book 1 with referential details like a hairy tongue borrowed from the "Haven" pairs and a stitched-up Swoosh like the "Halloween" versions.

You might also find the purple soles of the "Grape" Books, plus some "Safari" patterns. At the same time, a bright red heel tab nods to those Cortez-inspired pairs.

It's the best of the Book 1 era, all mashed into one "What The" sneaker.

Nike's Book 2 is slated to release in January, landing as an updated version with a similar shape but with thicker soles and a remolded upper.

But before moving to phase two, Nike and Booker are taking one last wild ride with the "What The" Book 1s, which are expected to release on December 16 through Nike's website.

And this last hurrah won't be an easy cop. Only 1,996 pairs were made, as indicated by the "out of 1996" tag on the upper. Prayers up for Book 1 fans.
