Nike is now as good at pants as it is at sneakers. Only just after launching some shockingly cool skater jeans, Nike has debuted its biggest pant ever and, you know what? They're legitimately excellent.

I speak with some authority, as a true big pant enthusiast. No pulling punches: A pant is either good or garbage.

And Nike's Balloon Pant is good. Really good.

Fitted with an elastic drawstring waist — crucial for both upholding the comfort key to baggy pants and the relaxed silhouette that makes these things so stylish — four pockets and a couple pleats for good measure, Nike's new trousers live up to the name.

Balloon pants, you see, are a really excellent pant style that typically wear a trim waist, generous thigh and strong taper from the knee down. It creates a cool, three-dimensional shape perhaps best epitomized by NEEDLES' H.D. pants. Pleats and seams help reign in their hugeness.

As a result, the ensuing silhouette is tremendously voluminous but not terribly unapproachable.

They're a great look not just for true blue big pant enjoyers like yours truly, but for neophytes looking to experiment with more generous shapes.

Retailing online for only $95, Nike's Balloon Pant are an experiment that won't break the bank. And, frankly, will probably look great.

Bonus: balloon pants look great with sneakers.

Nike's signature Air Force 1 was practically born to support the ample weight of a billowy trouser but not hard to imagine a slimmer silhouette, perhaps one of Nike's recent skate shoe masterpieces, sitting down below.

Enough of trousers as an afterthought!

When even Nike is designing trousers as good as anything coming off the runway, you know it's time to get serious about arguably the single most important part of the wardrobe.
