Nike’s Air Superfly sneaker finally gets wings. Sort of. The Nike Women’s Air Superfly “Black/Black/Black” is still a phantom of a shoe, barely there in silhouette, but within its monochromatic restraint, there’s something a little wild happening.

The Superfly is a running shoe first. Designed by Caprice Neely and released in 2001, the Air Superfly was built to be completely stripped down, defined by an extremely slim silhouette and lightweight construction meant to help you move fast.

It earned cult status, particularly in Japan, for that exact reason.

But lately, the Superfly has been drifting further from the track, picking up more material-forward updates that let it exist comfortably outside performance-only contexts.

This all-black version builds on that shift. The upper is wrapped in ostrich-embossed leather, complete with visible quill markings that add a tactile, almost animal quality to the shoe.

The material choice feels intentional rather than flashy. Drenched entirely in black, right down to the sole unit, the focus stays on texture and form.

Available on Nike’s website January 14 for around $105, the Air Superfly “Black/Black/Black” fits alongside other Nike runners that have crossed into lifestyle territory, like the Vomero series or the Ava Rover. Whether your New Year’s resolution is a new personal record or just a sharper sneaker rotation, this Superfly covers both lanes.

Either way, the ostrich leather makes this one of the flyest Superflys yet.
