The World Cup is fast approaching, and the frequency we’re seeing activations has really started to pick up. Only last week we saw images of the Jordan logo on Brazil’s national kit, and now we’re treated to a pair of football-leaning Jordans, too.

Featuring the iconic foldover tongue of retro football boots, the Nike Air Jordan 1 Low SE Tiempo is the latest in a growing line of kicks inspired by the beautiful game.

From adidas and Wales Bonner collaborations to Nike’s resurrection of the Total90 line as a lifestyle shoe, football boots have been growing harder and harder to distinguish from lifestyle silhouettes in recent years.

The integration of the two worlds extends from direct reproductions of football boots to subtle nods like that of the Nike Air Jordan 1 Low SE Tiempo, which finds its roots in Nike’s fan-favorite Tiempo family.

Where we’d usually see the Jumpman logo at the top of the laces, we now see a sizeable foldover tongue. If it’s not your style, fear not: it’s detachable.

And this isn’t where the crossover ends, either. This silver colorway lands on the heels of the same silhouette in gold as well as a Jordan-branded Tiempo football boot in crimson red.

In a similar way to the boundaries between subcultures in modern fashion, it seems that the borders between sports are dissolving. Who knew that Jordan would play such a central role in the 2026 World Cup?
