A Mad Max: Fury Road spin-off is on the way. Director George Miller's new post-apocalyptic film, titled Furiosa, is reportedly in production, NME reports.

As the title suggests, the upcoming movie will seemingly focus on war captain Imperator Furiosa, played by Charlize Theron in 2015's Mad Max: Fury Road, which also starred Tom Hardy.

It remains to be seen if Theron will reprise her role as the titular character, although we do know that Miller has been holding auditions for Furiosa via Skype, of which Anya Taylor-Joy (The VVitch, Split, Glass) has already participated in, Variety reports. It is, however, unclear which role she has auditioned for.

Some outlets have suggested that Furiosa will be a prequel film, which could allow another actress to take up the titular role. Other actors are said to have auditioned for the movie as well, although no names have been disclosed.

While this is all we have on the impending Mad Max spin-off Furiosa at this time, Miller has said he hopes to begin filming in 2021.
