There’s something satisfying about watching raindrops hit the surface of a jacket, only to deflect away into beads of water. This mesmerizing feat of fabric performance inspired TikTokers to start a bizarre trend of showering in Arc’teryx jackets.

Now Pharrell Williams, creative director of Louis Vuitton’s menswear, has gone one step further.

Rain or shine, Louis Vuitton’s drippy Fall/Winter 2026 outerwear is eternally fighting off rain. Not literally, but they certainly look that way.

On a long beige Louis Vuitton mac coat, small presumably glass beads congregate around the shoulder becoming more sparse the lower it gets on the jacket. At a glance, the appliqué looks identical to droplets of rain. The only thing giving the glass beads away is that they’re standing still.

This surprisingly realistic trickery was a largely overlooked detail within the wider context of Louis Vuitton’s Fall/Winter 2026 show — a prefab house sitting in the center of the runway tends to do that. But close-up images shared by LV footwear designer Thibo and taken by Highsnobiety at the following FW26 press preview properly show this “wet” clothing in action.

Glass beads run down a wool Louis Vuitton overcoat and a technical shell jacket not dissimilar from those Arc’teryx ones keeping people dry in the shower.

Then there are seemingly soaked dress shirts, polo shirts, and even sneakers, completing the rainstorm illusion. 

The effect is similar to that of trompe l'oeil, French for "deceives the eye," where a two-dimensional surface looks three-dimensional. Just like Bottega Veneta’s trompe l'oeil cotton shirt is actually leather or Acne Studio’s seemingly ripped denim is actually completely tear-free, Louis Vuitton FW25 looks drenched but is in fact bone dry.
