These Vibram Crocs Are the Final Boss of Clogs
The Vibram-soled Crocs are a delicious study in contrasts. Here, you have the most unassuming of shoes beefed up by the toughest of soles, in a a package that looks a heck of a lot like a conventional Crocs clog. It's just that Crocs have never before been this tough.
Oh, sure, Crocs has cooked up hardwearing kicks before but the Classic EXP Clog is on a different level. This is the final boss of Crocs clogs, if not all clogs.
You'll recognize the shape. Crocs' Classic EXP Clog is shaped exactly like the Classic Clog that everyone knows and loves. The difference is in the details: the foam midsole is extra light, meaning that these feel floatier than your average Crocs. But the custom Vibram soles, the first ever deployed on a pair of Crocs, promise unmatched grounding.
The funny thing is that Crocs already utilized a rubber base that's fairly grippy — only Crocs' workwear line promises actual non-slip soles, mind you — so that the Vibram addition so subtly blends into the existing form downplays the additional utility. Normally, when familiar footwear is upgraded with Vibram underfoot, the result is highlighted by an obviously altered sole, but Crocs is relying on that recognizable yellow branding to do the heavy lifting (well, not literally — that's what the new sole is designed for, but more on that in a sec).
As such, the Vibram Crocs risk feeling like a purely cosmetic upgrade that cashes in on Vibram's good name as the world's most famous sole producer. But there's actually quite a bit of substance under the hood, or so Crocs says.
Built using Vibram's XS TREK EVO tech as a base, the Crocs Classic EXP's sole is specially designed to mimic the profile of the original Crocs clog while "offering multi-surface grip and durability, responsiveness to unpredictable terrain, and engineered for stability and comfort," according to a press release. That's a lot of tech for a shoe that sure looks like conventional Crocs.
Available from Crocs' website and stores on April 23 for $85, the Vibram Crocs aren't merely a tactile upgrade but demonstrative of where the brand most famous for rubber clogs is taking its hero product. In its release, Crocs promises more adventurous Crocs EXP drops throughout 2026, demonstrative of the line's role in producing Crocs' "pinnacle product" like suede sneaker loafers and bonafide ballet flats.
The beauty of the Vibram Crocs is that they demonstrate that top-tier Crocs don't need to necessarily reinvent the wheel. The Crocs clog was already perfect, now it's just stronger.
