The day-long vigil held for Nipsey Hussle on April 1 ended in a stampede in Los Angeles' Hyde Park area, near the late rapper's clothing store. NBC4 reports that at least one person was stabbed. A crowd initially gathered to mourn the rapper near his Marathon Clothing store and the site of the fatal shooting. According to multiple reports from news outlets like CNN, a stampede occurred after “a fight and a report of gunfire” broke out.

The Los Angeles Fire Department told NBC4 that 19 people were hospitalized and that two were in a critical condition while another person is in a serious condition. Firefighters responded after hearing “shots fired at approximately 8:30 p.m.” However, the Los Angeles Police Department has since said that those reports were inaccurate.

Margaret Stewart, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles Fire Department, said that “the majority of the injuries are minor and as a result of trampling injuries from the crowd.” The alleged fight and ensuing stampede occurred after Eric Holder, 29, was identified by the Los Angeles Police Department as a suspect in the Nipsey Hussle shooting. Stay tuned here as more details about the developing case emerge.
