Nintendo Switch owners have plenty to look forward to this year. During the Nintendo Direct stream event yesterday, the Japanese video game titan announced a ton of new games that'll soon be available to play on the console.

The announcements included updates, new games, and remakes, including Fire Emblem: Three Houses, which was the event's biggest draw, a new Super Mario Maker, and a Zelda remake.

Fire Emblem: Three Houses

Release date: July 26

The game is focused on three noble houses in an academy that trains students in weaponry, magic, and other special skills — skills that are then used in life-or-death battles.

Super Mario Maker 2

Release date: June

The sequel to the OG Wii U game, Super Mario Maker 2 allows players to create new slopes for the first time, as well as selecting their own items, features, and tools.

The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening

Release date: 2019

A modern reimagining of the game that came out on the Game Boy 26 years ago. Here, we return to the island of Koholint to take Link on yet another peril-filled adventure.

Tetris 99

Release date: Available now

Think Tetris meets Hunger Games, with Tetris 99 pitting you against opponents — a best player left standing situation with only one winner coming out on top.

Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age

Release date: Fall

This classic RPG features the same sprawling vistas of the OG, but gets upgrades in the shape of character-specific stories, increased battle speed, an updated soundtrack, and the option to choose between HD and 16-bit visuals.
