For the latest milestone in Nike’s move to zero carbon and zero waste, the company has opened a new distribution powered by renewable energy. Called the "Court," the distribution center use 100% renewable energy from wind, solar, geothermal, hydroelectric and biomass energy as primary sources.

The 1.5 million square foot facility, which is used to increase growing consumer demand and faster delivery of products, also focuses on using less steel and concrete, minimizing waste and reducing material used in the construction process. 99% Inbound containers to the facility are transferred by water. This eliminates around 14,000 truck journeys each year, reducing associated carbon emissions. Lastly, more than 95% of waste generated on-site is recycled.

“Our new Court Distribution Center represents Nike’s continued investment in a fast and flexible supply chain to deliver the full range of our product to consumers when they want it, where they want it,” says Eric Sprunk, Nike Chief Operating Officer. “This state-of-the-art facility will increase our responsiveness as we accelerate our digital growth and better serve millions of consumers across Europe, Africa and the Middle East.”
