Editor’s Notes: There's no shortage of 2002r variations out on the market: from the ripped-up protection pack to ones with tactical stash pockets to full-on hairy designs. But nothing quite comes close to those where it's decked out in GORE-TEX, at least as far as practicality is concerned.

And fortunately for those looking for guaranteed dry feet regardless of the weather, the American label has new a version of the shoe with a full GORE-TEX upper.

However, what makes this release worthwhile is more than just its water-tight attributes, it's also the colorway.

Dubbed as "Tobacco" by the brand, this new release sees various shades of brown resembling dark chocolate, light cream, and wheat on the upper combine to produce one of the strongest 2002r colorways we've seen.

It's a combination of colors that I would bet on warranting record sell-out times had this model have released alongside one of New Balance's many big-name collaborators such as Aimé Leon Dore or Casablanca.

But this is fortunately a general-release model which has snuck relatively under the radar, meaning you might actually have a chance of copping a pair in your size.

Arriving online at retailers such as the Highsnobiety Shop, these sneakers are not the only water-tight models to drop as part of New Balance's latest selection.

There is also a duo of Rainier trail boots, complete with a Vibram outsole, D-ring eyelets, and (of course) a GORE-TEX upper for all those keen outdoor adventurers.
