Even as controversial as they are, sneaker-loafers are everywhere right now. Now, the Converse skaters bois are getting their own semi-formal hybrid shoe.

Converse Japan's skateboarding imprint has created a fancy new sneaker loafer, officially known as the Bit Loafer. And the Converse Bit Loafer's agenda is clear: business up top and a skate-ready party on the bottom.

The Converse shoe's uppers resemble a classic loafer, even including gold bits across its trim vamp. The low-top shoe also comes wrapped up in durable suede, in case skaters want to take these elegant-looking skate shoes for a spin at the skatepark.

Underfoot, the Converse loafer offers up a sleek textured rubber sole, marked with the familiar Converse bumper branding...and ready for gripping boards while practicing tricks.

Converse is undoubtedly part of the sneaker-loafer movement, with sneaker-leaning labels creating their own formal-ish shoes that keep in line with their performance roots. Labels as disparate as New Balance and HOKA have turned their dad shoes into sophisticated, techy steppers. Even Vans has its own skate loafer.

But Converse's Bit Loafer ain't the first formal shoe effort by the brand (it's probably not the last either). A few years back, the brand entered the post-sneaker society with its dressy All-Star Coupe loafer featuring traditional fringe flaps. Note that, again, this is a creation of Converse Japan, which isn't owned by Nike (like Converse is here in the West).

Since then, Converse has only upped its formal shoe game, creating even bigger — and I mean, big — loafers with the chunkiest soles imaginable.

And now, we have the Converse Bit Loafer to enjoy and, if we dare, skate in. Converse's Bit Loafer will land at Converse Japan on February 21, in classic black and brown colorways.
