Cardi B has long been an outspoken critic of President Donald Trump and his administration. The recent assassination of Iranian general Qassem Suleimani has even led her to consider leaving the US, claiming on Twitter that she is filing for Nigerian citizenship.

Citing the deluge of WWIII memes that have flooded the internet in the days since the assassination, the “Bodak Yellow” rapper tweeted that the president was “putting American lives in danger“ and “I'm filing for Nigerian citizenship.”

Back in December Cardi traveled to Nigeria as part of a West Africa trip. Her performances were part of a campaign to encourage people of African descent, whose ancestors were victims of the slave trade, to return to Ghana and invest in the continent.

How serious Cardi B’s tweets are to be taken remains to be seen, though it seems the African nation can't wait to receive her citizenship application. Mrs. Abike Dabiri Erewa, NIDCOM chairman under the Presidency took to Twitter to enthusiastically encourage her to apply.

Cardi B then asked her followers what Kulture's Nigerian name would be and fielded advice on how to convince Offset to relocate, too.

Cardi's comments have even been deployed in the historic rivalry between Nigeria and its anglophone neighbor, Ghana.
