Aston Martin has officially unveiled its new Vantage Roadster, which boasts the world's fastest fully automatic convertible roof. According to the British manufacturer, the fabric top drops in 6.7 seconds and unfurls in 6.8, operating at speeds of up to 31 miles per hour.

Elsewhere, the 2020 Vantage Roadster is noticeably similar to the previous hardtop version. The convertible is 132 pounds heavier, however, and travels from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 3.7 seconds as opposed to 3.5 seconds, before topping out at 190 miles per hour, which is five miles per hour less than the coupe.

To be expected, the luggage space on the convertible is considerably smaller, decreasing from 12.4 cubic feet to seven, although Aston Martin insists you can still fit a full-sized golf bag and additional accessories.

Under the hood of the Vantage Roadster you will find a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 sourced from Mercedes-AMG, which cranks out 503 horsepower and 505 pound-feet of torque. Unfortunately, however, the convertible is only offered in a ZF eight-speed automatic, unlike the coupe and its seven-speed manual transmission.

Aston Martin is expected to make the 2020 Vantage Roadster available in the US this summer, starting at $161,000.
