Days after news began to circulate surrounding the possibility of Forever 21 filing for bankruptcy, Ariana Grande is now suing the American fast fashion retailer for $10 million due to misappropriation of her name, image, likeness, and music, Business of Fashion reports. According to the publication, Grande is accusing Forever 21 and Riley Rose, the company's beauty boutique, of using a model looking "strikingly similar" to herself in a campaign earlier in 2019.

The campaign in question launched after Forever 21 chose not to pay the desired amount for a joint campaign with Grande. Business of Fashion points out that Forever 21 and Riley Rose share a similar fanbase to that of Grande, who has a mammoth social media following that surpasses 65 million Twitter followers and 163 million Instagram followers.

Grande's complaint cites no less than 30 images and videos that were misappropriated by Forever 21 and Riley Rose. In addition to the lookalike model, the company utilized audio and lyrics from her hit single, "7 Rings." Filed in Los Angeles federal court, the lawsuit seeks damages for copyright and trademark infringement, false endorsement, and violating the right of publicity.
