Flick through pictures of New York’s ’90s hip-hop scene or the UK’s ’00s grime scene and you’ll see a recurring theme: Avirex leather jackets.

Look at the ground in each photo and you’ll likely also see another familiar fixture: the adidas Superstar. It feels like a natural development, then, that the adidas x Avirex Superstar 82 exists, and it’s hitting shelves in black.

If you’ve ever picked up or worn an Avirex leather jacket, you’ll know that they weigh a ton. That’s high-quality leather, and lots of it. No changes here: the adidas x Avirex Superstar 82 in black features high-end leather throughout.

But it’s not the first time we’ve seen this loadout. The two brands came together in October 2025 to kit out the classic white Superstar with Avirex leather; now we’re treated to the inverse colorway.

The only departure from the classic Superstar silhouette comes in the form of an oversized foldover tongue which features Avirex branding alongside an embossed adidas Trefoil logo.

Chunky laces nod to the shoe’s vintage pedigree, matching the clean white stripes that detail each side of the design. Look to the heel tabs for further embossed branding, Avirex on the right, and adidas on the left. 

Some collaborations were just meant to happen, and you can always feel when it’s a natural fit. The adidas x Avirex connection has been forged over decades of subcultural exchange, so it tracks that the physical manifestation of it is a masterpiece.
